Junior Software Engineer | May 2015 – Sep 2015 | Perked! | Vancouver, BC, Canada

Worked along the co-founders on a startup which consisted on a mobile App for mental wellness, providing users a set of techniques and activities to manage stress levels, depression and anxiety. We used a web-based cross-platform technology PhoneGap and Ionic, using JavaScript, Typescript and AngularJS. Achievement Highlights:

  • In the analytic dashboard, I implemented a module to extract, load and display unquantified data from the history database to visualize, analyze and ultimately improve business decisions. This information helped us look more closely what features were more frequently used, and what could we do to those features that weren’t used too often.
  • On the mobile app, I implemented a stress insight view, graphing a user’s past entries of his/her stress levels over time to observe & manage patterns.

Co-op Software Developer | Dec 2014 – May 2015 | Appazur Solutions | Vancouver, BC, Canada

Appazur Solutions creates branded, semi-custom apps for educational institutions (primarily high schools). My job consisted porting the PhoneGap app business template to a native cross-platform technology. I used Xamarin Forms, with SQLite, RESTful services, Json, and a MVVM pattern to rebuild the product.  Achievement Highlights:

  • By the end of the co-op, we reached a pre-alpha stage app that performed twice as fast as the current version, and shortly after there were plans into release private beta versions to a shortlist of local schools.

Technical Expert | Jul 2011– Jul 2013 | Microsoft Student Partner | Caracas, Venezuela

Joined a community of outstanding students whose passion for technology drives us to share and teach their knowledge to other students across several colleges and university campus. Dictated a number of workshops, presentations and webcasts online showing how to develop mobile apps using Microsoft’s platform and tools such as Visual Studio, C#, XAML, Blend, Windows 8 Universal Apps, etc.  Achievement Highlights:

  • Conducted workshops on developing apps for Windows Phone and Windows Store among several local universities in Caracas, increasing the number of released apps to the store on a National level by over 200.
  • I was invited to do a webinar for the Latin-American community to demonstrate an Introduction to Blend, to make engaging User Interfaces for Windows apps, in which attended over 6,000 users.
  • Due to my full English proficiency, I co-wrote an Introductory career course at the Microsoft Virtual Academy of XNA Framework for the Latin-American community. My WordPress blog reached over 200 daily visits, receiving positive feedback and compliments for the valuable posts and code samples.
